Pros:Quite a nice piece, but there are a few things that I think may be improved, but before I comment on those few things, I'll tell you what's good about it; because this is good.
The planet textures and the borders work nicely too, I like how you've used your imagination with the border, without it being distracting. Instead of a dull, single-line border, you've managed to incorporate a more complex border well. And while the planet textures don't seem to very 'distinct' in detail, with little contrasting elements of drastically different landscapes, they serve their purpose well in terms of fitting in with the subtle sense of the piece. Cons:So what could be improved? First of all, I'm not sure about the composition.. I feel torn between looking at the larger planet with its ring, or that bright star which all the elements aim the eyes towards, perhaps fiddling around with the location of the elements could help; it usually helps me when my composition is 'wary'. Next, I'm not so sure about the planetary lighting; the planet in front of the primary star indicates to me that the other planets are either behind this star (but then that doesn't explain the planet in front of the planet ring), or the lighting is a little odd or confused, as I'd imagine them to be lit mostly on the unviewable side (from this perspective).
Another point on perspective is that the planetary ring feels a bit flat, or 'confused' perspective wise, while it's certainly in the right direction, it just doesn't seem to fit well with my eyes. Overall opinion/feedback:Still, having said all this, you've done a good job here; a serene, minimal scene, while keeping just the right amount of variation. Fixing those few things; perspective and composition mainly - and this could be even better, but in no way is this bad.
Keep up the good work! Hmm, look what happens when I find the time to comment (err, review, now I see that feature, let me see if this works..). |

My only slight crit is the rings of the planet, they are abit too smooth. Adding some noise to break up the uniform appearance at such a distance, would also add more detail.

Great composition and feel. I love the subtle nebulea clouds in the background and the lighting is great. Something about the planet to the bottom-right seems off to me but I can't put my finger on it. Seems flat compared to the other two. Great work!

Honestly, though, that border is much too busy; it's trying to steal the show! As to Joe's comment about the flat planet, I think it might be that dark area that looks kind of like a dent on the lighted portion.
Solid work.

Now that it's been a day, I think I'm going to go back and try to toss a few more hours in it. There's a lot of things I don't like about it.
